R. CRAIG WOOD has practiced law with McGuireWoods LLP for over 30 years in the areas of education law, employment law and litigation.  Mr. Wood has served as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Litigation Section of the Virginia State Bar, and the Board of Directors of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys.  He has served as President of the Education Law Association, the Board of Directors of the National School Boards Association Council of School Attorneys, and the President of Virginia COSA.  Mr. Wood also teaches Trial Advocacy at the University of Virginia School of Law, and The Law of Higher Education at Washington and Lee University School of Law. 

Mr. Wood took his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Virginia, and his law degree magna cum laude from the Washington and Lee University School of Law.  He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Virginia Business Magazine’s “Virginia’s Legal Elite” and Virginia Super Lawyers.  He has twice been named “Lawyer of the Year” in the Charlottesville region by Super Lawyers. He was awarded the McGhehey Award by the Education Law Association for outstanding contributions to the field of education law and policy.
